About Me
I’m passionate about helping people move better, recover from injury, and unlock their full potential. With over 20 years of clinical experience, I combine physiotherapy, sports science, and strength and conditioning to provide evidence-based care that supports both recovery and long-term health.
My Background
I first studied PE, Sports Science and Biology at the University of Liverpool before training in Physiotherapy at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. My curiosity for performance and rehabilitation led me to complete a Master’s in Sports & Exercise Medicine at Exeter University, where I graduated with distinction.
Alongside my academic studies, I became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the NSCA and, most recently, completed accreditation as an EMCC Health & Wellbeing Coach (2024). This combination of physiotherapy, sports medicine, and coaching allows me to support not only the physical side of recovery, but also the mindset and lifestyle changes that make lasting progress possible.
Ongoing Learning
I’ve always believed in staying at the cutting edge of my profession. Over the years, I’ve undertaken specialist training in areas such as neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction and cortico-steroid injection therapy, and I continue to learn and adapt as research and practice evolve.
Research & Teaching
Research has been a strong part of my journey. My studies have explored topics such as overuse injuries in Irish dancers and soccer players, as well as risk factors for tibial stress fractures and Achilles tendinopathy in marathon runners. I’ve shared these findings at national and international conferences, and regularly speak on subjects including strength and conditioning, coaching, mindset, and exercise commitment.
I also enjoy teaching and mentoring. I run the course “Unravelling Strength & Conditioning for Therapists”, helping therapists develop confidence in exercise prescription, strength training, and coaching. I host the podcast Therapeutic Conversations Unravelled (TCUP), which explores communication and collaboration in healthcare.
Current Roles
Alongside my clinical practice, I’m a Clinical Specialist in hips, knees and shoulders within the NHS MSK interface service, where I’ve worked for over 12 years. I collaborate closely with GPs, orthopaedic surgeons, and physiotherapists to provide expert musculoskeletal assessment and treatment.
I’m also the co-founder of The Unbound Project, a peer-to-peer support community for healthcare professionals. Through webinars, coaching, and networking, we help clinicians grow in confidence and take the next step in their careers.
My Approach
Every patient I work with is unique, and my goal is to create a clear plan that matches your needs and goals—whether that’s recovering from an injury, preventing future problems, or improving performance in sport or daily life. By blending physiotherapy, sports science, and coaching, I aim to give you the knowledge, tools, and support to get back to doing the things you love—stronger, healthier, and more confident.
I am registered with the HCPC and a member of the chartered society of physiotherapists.
